The Computer Technology Institute and Press "Diophantus" (CTI) is an organization focusing on research and development in Information and Communication Technologies.
Particular emphasis is placed on education, by developing and deploying conventional and digital media in education and lifelong learning; publishing printed and electronic educational materials; administrating and managing the Greek School Network; and supporting the organization and operation of the electronic infrastructure of the Greek Ministry of Education and all educational units.
CTI was founded in 1985 as a Non Profit Private Legal Entity. Since 1992 CTI has been supervised by the Ministry of Education as a financially, administratively and scientifically independent institution. It was a strategic decision of the Ministry of Education in 2011 to establish CTI as its technological pillar supporting ICT in education and as the publishing body of Greek school books and electronic educational materials.
CTI has longstanding experience in pedagogical application of educational technology in schools, in designing and developing educational software and learning scenarios, in co-coordinating and supervising large-scale national actions for schools, in implementing pilot projects introducing new ICT-based educational methods in schools etc. CTI has designed and coordinated the national large scale projects for the development of educational software and learning activities for primary and secondary education.
Stavroula Sokoli, PhD
Is a researcher on Audiovisual Translation and Language Learning with more than 20 publications on the subject. She has initiated and coordinated the EU-funded projects LeViS.cti.gr (2006-2008) and ClipFlair.net (2011-2014) and collaborates with the Academic and Research Excellence Initiative in Greece at Computer Technology Institute & Press "Diophantus".
Stavroula teaches Spanish at the Hellenic Open University and gives subtitling courses at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
She also works as a freelance subtitler and conference interpreter.
Maria Kalantzi, MEng
Has a Diploma from the Polytechnical School of University of Patras “Computer Engineering and Informatics Department” and she is currently pursuing her M.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering. She is a junior research associate of the Internet Technologies Laboratory of Computer Engineering and Informatics Department.
Her research interests include Recommender Systems, Big Data Mining and Machine Learning. Her first research findings have been published in the "Web Intelligence, Mining and Semantics" international conference.
Furthermore, since 2012 she has been working at Computer Technology Institute & Press "Diophantus" as a Software Engineer and also as a freelance Web Developer for a number of greek advertising agencies since 2010.
Ioanna Kanellopoulou, MEng
Is a computer engineer with a specialization in Education. She designs educational software, specializes in creating lesson plans and is interested in implementing new technologies in education. Her Msc is in "Technologies of Informatics and Communications in Education" and she has a MEng from the Polytechnical School of University of Patras "Computer Engineering and Informatics Department".
She did an internship in Paris for 3 months in "Laboratoire Education et Apprentissages" at the university Paris Descartes and now she works at the Computer Technology Institute in Patras.
Panayiotis Payiatis, MA
Is a multimedia/interface designer and digital artist. He designs interfaces and UX for digital media and the internet, digital video and photography. He is with CTI, Patras, since 2012, with roles as interface designer/UX expert in EU research projects and Greek Minister of Education projects.
He has cooperated with DB Databank, Athens, from 2007 to 2010, as an interface/interaction designer. He has an MA in Digital Arts (2012), at the Athens School of Fine Arts, a BEng in Products and Systems Design Engineering from University of the Aegean (2007), and is currently pursuing a second MPhil at the department of Philosophy, University of Patras.
